The Legend of California Data & API

Motherlode is a free, community-built dataset and API for The Legend of California. We document every item, weapon, creature, apparel piece, resource, crafting recipe, vendor and corner of the map, datamined from the latest build and kept up to date. You are welcome to use this data in your own sites, apps and projects. This page explains how, and the one thing we ask in return.

What’s in the dataset

The Legend of California dataset is the full game database behind motherlode.gg: items and consumables, weapons and weapon mods, apparel and armour, creatures and their drops, resources and gathering nodes, crafting recipes and stations, vendors and prices, the world map and its regions, plus systems like tiers, stats and challenges. Every entry has its own page you can link to.

Talk to us first

If you are planning to use the data in a tool, app, site, video or any other project, get in touch before you start: open a ticket in the #sheriffs-office channel on our Discord. Tell us what you are building and we will help where we can, flag anything that is still changing, and make sure your project does not break the next time the dataset updates. We genuinely like seeing what people make with this.

Attribution is required

You may use our data as long as you credit Motherlode with a clear, working link back to us. That link must be a normal, followable dofollow link: please do not add a nofollow or sponsored attribute, and do not otherwise block it from search engines.

Wherever you can, link to the exact page the data came from, not just our homepage. If your site shows a glider, link to that glider’s page on motherlode.gg; if you list weapons, link each one to its entry. A single homepage link is the bare minimum we accept, but those per-entry deep links are what we actually ask for, and they help both of us.

On a website or app, show a visible credit wherever the data appears, linking to the entry it came from (or, at the very least, to motherlode.gg). Drop in something like this, and keep it dofollow:

In a video or stream, put a motherlode.gg link in the description, with a mention where it fits naturally.

The Legend of California API

Prefer to pull data programmatically? We run a free, read-only JSON API for The Legend of California, covering entities, full-text search, categories and the system documents. Access is granted on request rather than self-serve: open a ticket in the #sheriffs-office channel on our Discord, tell us what you are building, and if it is a good fit we will issue you an API key. Once we assign you one, it appears in your account under Settings → API key, ready to copy. The endpoint index is public at /api/v1 if you want to see what is on offer first. Every response carries an attribution block with the exact motherlode.gg page to link back to, so the credit below is easy to wire up automatically.

Please don’t

• Scrape the site in bulk or hammer it with automated requests. Ask us instead and we will sort out a sensible way to share what you need, usually the API.
• Republish the database wholesale, or present it as your own work.
• Use the Motherlode name or logo in a way that implies we endorse or are affiliated with your project without checking with us first.

A note on accuracy

The data is datamined from in-development alpha builds, so it can change or be incomplete. Treat it as a best-effort snapshot, keep your copy in sync with our updates, and do not present it as official. Motherlode is a fan project and is not affiliated with the game’s developers.
