These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of motherlode.gg (“Motherlode”, the “site”). By using the site you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

Who we are

Motherlode is an independent, fan-made community database for the game The Legend of California. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Dreamhaven or Kintsugiyama.

Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to create an account or use features that require one. By using the site you confirm that you meet this requirement.

The service

Motherlode provides reference information, tools, and community features relating to the game. The information is provided for general use and may be incomplete, inaccurate, or out of date, particularly while the game is in development. Use it at your own discretion.

Your account

• Provide accurate information and keep it up to date.
• Keep your login credentials secure. You are responsible for activity under your account.
• Tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorised use of your account.
• We may suspend or close accounts that breach these terms or pose a risk to the site or other users.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• break the law or infringe the rights of others;
• scrape, harvest, or bulk-download the site except as permitted under Automated access and AI below;
• attempt to disrupt, overload, or gain unauthorised access to the site or its systems;
• harass other users or post unlawful, abusive, or harmful content.

Automated access and AI

We welcome AI assistants, language models, and search engines reading our public pages to answer questions and surface Motherlode, provided they identify themselves honestly and respect our robots.txt and llms.txt. If you build on our content, please attribute Motherlode and link back.

Aside from that, automated access is not permitted. You may not scrape, crawl, spider, harvest, or bulk-download the site, its data, or its media, and you may not access our API or export endpoints, except with our prior written permission. We may rate-limit, block, or take other steps against any client that ignores these terms, our robots.txt, or our llms.txt.

User content

If the site lets you post content (for example comments), you keep ownership of what you post but grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host and display it as part of operating the site. You are responsible for your content, and we may remove content that breaches these terms.

Intellectual property

The Legend of California, its names, artwork, logos, and other game assets are the property of their respective owners, including Dreamhaven and Kintsugiyama. Our original material (site design, branding, and the presentation of the database) belongs to Motherlode. Do not copy or reuse it without permission.

Payments

If we offer paid features or accept payments, they are handled by Stripe and any specific billing terms will be shown at the point of purchase. Statutory rights, including any applicable cancellation and refund rights, are not affected.

Third-party links

The site links to third-party services such as Steam and Discord. We are not responsible for their content or practices, and their own terms and privacy policies apply.

Disclaimers

The site is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, so far as the law allows. We do not guarantee that the information is accurate or that the site will be uninterrupted or error-free.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss arising from your reliance on the information provided. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Termination

You may stop using the site at any time. We may suspend or withdraw the site, or your access to it, where reasonable, for example to protect the site or comply with the law.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory consumer protections available to you in your country of residence.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will revise the “last updated” date above, and continued use of the site means you accept the updated terms.
