Guns and Gunsmithing: Weapons, Mods and Ammo
Combat is projectile-based with real bullet drop, and the good guns are modular. Here are the weapon families, the eight guns you can customise, and the ammo ladder that feeds them.
Combat is fully projectile-based with bullet drop, so there is no hitscan and range genuinely matters. Pick the right tool for the distance, feed it the right ammo, and bolt mods onto the guns that accept them.
Weapon families
- Revolvers and pistols: Taylor and Shaw Revolver, Wellington Double Action, Dutfield Flintlock, and the unique The Iron Bison.
- Rifles: Dutfield Bolt Action, Wellington Carbine, Harrison Repeater, the long-range Buffalo Gun, and the Harrison Muzzle Loader.
- Shotguns: Jenkins Pump Shotgun and the Dutfield 12 Gauge.
- Bows: Short Bow and the modular Recurve Bow, quiet and cheap to feed.
- Melee: spears (Wood up to Steel, plus the unique Hartspear), tomahawks (Bone to Steel) and the Sabre.
- Throwables: Dynamite, Fire Bomb and Volatile Fire Bomb.
Most guns also exist as a "Worn" version that drops as loot or sells cheap. It is the same weapon in lower condition, fine as a stopgap before you craft the pristine one.
Gunsmithing: which weapons take mods
Eight weapons are modular. Bolt on speed loaders, scopes, stocks, chokes and barrels to reshape how they handle:
| Weapon | Mod slots available |
|---|---|
| Harrison Repeater | 7 |
| Recurve Bow | 5 |
| Dutfield 12 Gauge | 4 |
| Taylor and Shaw Revolver | 4 |
| Dutfield Bolt Action | 3 |
| Wellington Carbine | 3 |
| Wellington Double Action | 3 |
| Jenkins Pump Shotgun | 2 |
Each mod is its own craftable item (and drops as a lootable schematic), so building out a favourite gun is a progression goal in itself. The Harrison Repeater is the standout tinkerer's weapon with the widest mod pool.
Ammo tiers
Ammo climbs in materials and punch. The pattern repeats across pistol, rifle and shotgun:
- Arrows: Wooden, Iron-Tipped, Copper-Tipped, Steel-Tipped.
- Firearm rounds: base, then Copper Jacket / Copper Lined, then Steel Core / Steel Pellet.
- Black Powder Ammo for the flintlock and muzzle loaders.
Match the ammo tier to your weapon tier. Steel Core in a starter pistol is a waste, and base rounds blunt a late-game rifle.
A note on damage numbers
Weapon stats like Damage, Fire Rate and Falloff are flat values pulled straight from the files, with falloff start and end distances baked in because of the bullet-drop model. Use them to compare guns directly rather than trusting feel.
