FAQ

The questions players ask most, answered. Grouped by topic, from how the world is generated to crafting, progression, and the economy.

World /

Is the map the same on every server?

The landmass and its named landmarks are hand authored and fixed, so the coastline and places like Alcatraz are always in the same spot. Everything that fills the world, such as resource nodes, wildlife, enemy camps and loot, is generated from the server seed, so exact spawn locations change from server to server. Use tiers and mine depth to find things, not fixed coordinates.

What are PvP hot zones and world events?

World events are timed activities such as Outpost Defense, Caravan Defense, Contraband Caches and the Outlaw Strongbox, each with its own rewards. Some are flagged as PvP, including the PvP Hot Zone, where other players can fight you. Each event lists its rewards and whether it is PvP on its page.

Progression /

How do tiers work?

Tier is a quality rank from 1 to 4 that sits on individual gear, creatures and enemies. Higher tier gear is stronger and usually needs higher tier materials to craft. Tier 0 is the starter clothing you spawn in, and a single Tier 5 tool exists as an outlier. Tiers are a property of items and creatures, not of map regions, so there is no Tier 3 zone.

How do I carry more?

Inventory upgrades and storage containers increase how much you can hold. Storage furniture lets you stash items at your base, and horse equipment such as saddlebags adds carry capacity on the move. Each upgrade page shows what it adds and how to obtain it.

Economy /

What is the difference between Bucks and Coins?

Bucks are your personal currency, earned and spent by you alone. Coins are the shared company or ranch currency used by your whole party. Bucks come in dollar and cent denominations, while Coins come as Gold and Silver Coins. There are also PvP Tokens and a Fishing Token for specific systems.

How do I make money?

Sell what you gather and loot to vendors at outposts. Raw resources, cooked food and surplus gear all have a sell value, and higher tier items are worth more. Loot containers and defeated enemies drop coins directly. Check each item page for its sell value and which vendors buy it.

Crafting /

How does crafting work?

Most items are crafted at a station such as a Workbench, Campfire, Smelter or Tannery, using a set of ingredients. Each recipe lists its ingredients, the station it needs and how long it takes. Open any craftable item to see its full recipe, and follow the ingredient links to learn how to get each part.
